Gokayama Gassho no Sato

A Small World Heritage Site Village

Gassho no Sato, the Entrance to Gokayama

Welcome to the Gokayama region of Toyama Prefecture. For centuries, this steep, mountainous area was considered an unexplored wilderness. Even today, the area’s ancient landscape and traditional culture still remain, including old-fashioned gassho-zukuri houses. Gassho no Sato features thirteen relocated gassho-zukuri houses, offering guests a chance to actually experience the traditional lifestyle of Gokayama, as well as information for sightseeing in the surrounding area. We look forward to seeing you.
